MicroDetector™

MicroDetector™ is the world’s first motion-sensing device that is portable, retrievable and provides for monitoring via an off-premise receiver.

Designed for use in tactical field operations, the MicroDetector from UltraVision has been called a “force multiplier” by leading law enforcement officials. The MicroDetector Personal Motion Detector 1 (MicroDetector PMD-1) is a small, portable, battery-operated motion detector that uses microwave technology to perform motion sensing operations. Ideal for police departments and other law enforcement agencies, the MicroDetector PMD-1 provides law enforcement with the opportunity to maximize use of their force members, ensuring the safety of both law enforcement personnel and the public they protect.

The straightforward design and functionality of MicroDetector PMD-1 requires no user training. An “On/Off” switch in the middle of the device allows for one-handed activation. A field officer simply activates the device and leaves it behind in a cleared area.

Once deployed, each MicroDetector™, via its wireless transmitter, returns a “Motion detected? Yes/No” indication back to a PDA or laptop computer. Once in place, should motion occur, a “yes” signal is sent back to the receiver, alerting personnel that the situation in a cleared area has changed. Operations center officers can then alert in-field personnel to the change.

Each MicroDetector™ has a unique sensor serial number which is used to identify the unit’s location once deployed. Future models will give officers the ability to record a vocal identifier which can further detail the MicroDetector location—the officer might choose to record “north east corner of warehouse” or “3rd-floor hall” for example.

The unit is encased in a rugged, durable plastic housing. Motion detection is omni-directional up to 20 feet. Further, motion can be detected through light walls or even if the sensor is covered by a few inches of soil (to effectively “hide” the unit from threats). Motion detection occurs with objects that are man-size or greater.

The receiver (laptop, PDA, etc.) may monitor as many sensors as a tactical operation should ever need (32), provided they are within radio-range. Range to the PDA is limited to 200 ft. (60M) to maximize battery power duration. Units will ship in a carrying case of four PMD’s. The case also serves as the battery charger.

The MicroDetector™ is ideal for use in police, SWAT and other agency applications.

Force multiplier: MicroDetector provides law enforcement the ability to maximize force deployments, providing “leave-behind” motion detection to ensure cleared areas remain clear.

Stakeouts: MicroDetector can provide an “always-on” technological edge that compliments officer effectiveness on long, tedious stakeouts where it is difficult to maintain round-the-clock alertness. MicroDetector can be positioned where target motion is most likely to occur: doorways, near vehicles, etc. Regardless of lighting conditions, MicroDetector can alert officers to target activity.

Hostage situations: Domestic disturbance calls or robberies “gone bad” can turn into hostage situations. MicroDetector can help officers pinpoint motion within a home or other structure or indicate a complete lack of motion. Knowledge of either motion or no motion can help plan an effective, safe response to a dangerous situation

Forward base perimeters: In hostile applications, MicroDetector can easily establish protective perimeters that can be set up and taken down in a matter of minutes. Visual or audible alerts from MicroDetector can help protect assets and lives in dangerous situations.
