Ice and Snow Systems
ISDS - ICE AND SNOW DETECTION SYSTEM
MIL-STD-D-8181B AND UK CAA APPROVED
Ice shedding often causes damaging asymmetric loads on helicopter transmissions and airframes. The result is costly drive and rotor blade overhaul, airframe fatigue checks, cockpit instrumentation damage and lots of ground time!
Curtiss-Wright Controls Integrated Sensing (CWCIS) flying experience now enables operators to extend their operational capability in mixed and unpredictable weather conditions without risk to safety or costly
maintenance. Reliable prediction of unacceptable icing enables you to use the whole operational flight envelope …
safely and confidently.
• Invaluable for night flying operations
• Safety in the hover
• Reduced aircrew fatigue
The CWCIS Ice and Snow Detection System takes the turbine engine bleed air and continuously measures build up from liquid water, providing a rapid warning of changing conditions.
The system automatically resets and resamples on a continuous cycle and is able to detect snow as well as ice. A rapid response time of less than 2 seconds for 1.0gm/m3 accumulation provides the pilot with invaluable advanced notice of changing conditions …even in the hover.
Curtiss-Wright Controls Integrated Sensing achievements enable you to push your flight envelope for positive advantage and ...Positively reduce your ground time.
