PC Card Quick Access Recorder

PQAR: PC Card Quick Access Recorder

The PCMCIA Quick Access Recorder (PQAR) is the most recent addition to the Curtiss-Wright range of Quick Access Recorders. It is based extensively on the existing Optical Quick Access Recorder (OQAR) product, with the optical medium being replaced by solid state PC Card FLASH memory. Solid state memory offers the advantage over optical discs that there are no moving parts, and the recording is therefore largely immune to the effects of aircraft environment, such as vibration, temperature, dust and humidity.

Utilizing industry-standard PCMCIA ATA Flash Card technology, the PQAR can also record other parameters not available to the flight data recorders, thus providing you with a more complete picture of aircraft and crew performance.

Key features of the PCMCIA Quick Access Recorder (PQAR)

  • 1024 words per second
  • Interfaces to ARINC 573/717 data acquisition (DFDAU) or data management (DMU) unit
  • Disk erasure not necessary
  • Normal or endless loop options
