TacFLIR II

The TacFLIR II is a long-range, gyro stabilized multi-sensor system that is equivalent to the AN/KAX-1 and -2. The TacFLIR II multi-sensor thermal imaging system includes a mid-wave InSb thermal imager with an 18-to-one zoom ratio telescope, a color daylight/lowlight TV camera, and a laser pointer for indicating specific targets to friendly forces equipped with night vision devices.

FLIR Systems Inc., the world’s leading supplier of thermal imaging solutions, has developed the TacFLIR family of thermal imaging systems. Designed for use in harsh military and paramilitary environments, TacFLIR product applications include Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target
Acquisition (RSTA), ground mobility, commander’s viewer, unmanned ground vehicles, force/site protection, vehicle situational awareness and serve as a component in fire control systems.

Versions of the TacFLIR have already been fielded by the US Army, US SOCOM, US Navy, US Coast Guard, US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and many international militaries for their ground
vehicles, ships and aircraft. Approximately 300 TacFLIRs or TacFLIR variants have been delivered as of February 2006 and are installed on a wide range of platforms including HUMVEEs, UGVs, small, highspeed craft, midsize patrol vessels, large cargo vessels, and rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
